Greetings! I am an academic from the United States who researches aspects of female “monstrosity” in both 19th-century British literature and 17th-century American history. While I specialize in these fields, my interests also include the Gothic, penny publications, the environment in literature, ecofeminism, medical humanities, horror literature and cinema, and photography.

My latest project Penny Bloods: Gothic Tales of Dangerous Women, was recently published with The British Library and is now globally available. Penny Dreadfuls and the Gothic, a collection co-edited with Sophie Raine that examines penny blood and dreadful novels of the 19th century is available from University of Wales Press. My other literary work, Nature and Monstrous Women in the Victorian Gothic Fiction, 1837-1871, is available from Lexington Books.
